Chip Dobson was named the DI Girls Coach of the Year after he led to Lady Comets to a state runner-up finish.  It was his second state runner-up finish.  His team was also second in 2010.  He coached his girls to back to back state titles in 2012 and 2013.  In 2012 his girls point total of 42 was the second lowest score ever recorded in any class since the distance was increased to 5,000 meters in 1982.  Prior to taking over the program at Mason, he won two DII state titles (2002,2004) and one state runner-up title at Taylor (2003).  Since arriving at Mason, his girls cross country teams have qualified to the state meet for ten consecutive years.
